Swann-Morton

Swann-Morton was founded in Sheffield, England, in 1932 by Walter Swann, Alfred Morton and Doris Fairweather, initially to make razor blades. It moved into surgical blades and, after the Bard-Parker patent for two-piece scalpels expired in 1935, expanded into scalpel handles and blades.

In the 1960s it developed gamma-irradiation sterilisation for its blades, and it still manufactures in Sheffield.
