Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson was founded in 1886 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, by the brothers Robert Wood Johnson, James Wood Johnson and Edward Mead Johnson, starting with ready-to-use sterile surgical dressings. It launched Johnson's Baby Powder in 1894 and became a public company in 1944.
Today it focuses on pharmaceuticals and medical devices; its consumer health business was separated as Kenvue in 2023. Its surgical products are sold under the Ethicon brand, which has its own page on this site.
