Heine

HEINE Optotechnik was founded in 1946 in Herrsching, Germany, by the physicist Helmut A. Heine. Its first products were a handheld otoscope and a direct ophthalmoscope. It remains a family-owned company, now run by the third generation, and moved to new headquarters in Gilching, near Munich, in 2020.

HEINE is known for high-quality diagnostic instruments, including otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes and dermatoscopes, and still makes more than 80% of the individual parts of its instruments in-house.
