B. Braun

B. Braun traces its origins to 1839, when Julius Wilhelm Braun bought the Rose Pharmacy in Melsungen, Germany. The company registered the B. Braun name in 1867 and is still owned by the Braun family. It built its reputation on surgical sutures and infusion therapy, and its Sterofundin infusion solution, introduced in 1930, was among the first to be produced industrially.

Today B. Braun supplies around 5,000 healthcare products worldwide, including infusion solutions and pumps (its Infusomat pump dates from 1971), IV access products, and surgical instruments through its Aesculap business.
